2mm clutch steel plate. Item 4 in the diagram which is for illustration purposes only.
This particular thickness of steel is more for use in race bike slipper clutches not standard road bike clutches, they are slightly thinner.
The purpose of the clutch is to engage and disengage the engine from the rear wheel. With the clutch lever pulled it has effectively decoupled the crankshaft and the transmission meaning no power is getting through in order to propel the motorcycle forward. With the lever let out, it has coupled them together and power will now be driving it forward. Without a clutch you would have a pretty difficult time starting, stopping, and moving your bike around.
