The clutch release bearing or Throw Out Bearing as it is sometimes called, is the bearing that runs against the clutch pressure plate. It is moved by the release fork and pushes against the pressure plate springs to release the clutch.
If your clutch is making funny noises or not releasing properly, this could be a sign that your bearing is on its way out.
